what a renovation!
In 2007 I’d taken a picture of the “Lizard Lodge,” a small house in front of the house named “Crow’s Nest” in downtown Hope Town.
It was a simple structure, sufficient for any self-respecting curly tail lizard. Not too ostentatious, but it had all the comforts of home.
And I DO have a shot with the lizard who lives here… be darned if I can find it tonight, though. I will add it if and when I find it. He is, without a doubt, one spoiled little bugger!
UPDATE: Here he is!
Now I am wondering if I have seen him lately.
Here he is with his surfboard.
And what do we come across on a stroll through Hope Town this week? This curly tail has expanded, and added some pretty cool things to his property! A lighthouse! Two airplanes! A sports car! A Bahamian flag! And something every home should have on its front deck – a canon!
Spoiled little bugger indeed. As are, I guess, the cats that come to visit!

Adorable! I love the renovations. And now he has an overnight guest. How nice!
This is the most hilarious post so far! Is the cat real or did you photoshop her in?!
Thank you for the laughs.
The cat is totally real, CoCo!
You may have seen the orange and white cats in Hope Town on your visits. There are stories about their old, original owner (or the owners of their moms and grandmothers).
There was an older woman, kind of out of it, who lived here. I think her house was to the right of the Harbour View grocery. Now there is an empty lot. Anyway, she had loads of orange and white cats, never neutered or spayed. And every six months or so some nice townspeople would get her out of the house, so others could go in and scrape the floors and clean up!
There are stories of her running through town at night with a machete… and anyway, the cats are all descendants of her cats! And this one is real – can you imagine waiting for a curly tail to come home to the Lizard Lodge for dinner? YUM!
Not sure he will be excited (the lizard) to see the cat, but you never know! If the lion can lie down with the lamb…
