so, we’re in Florida
And my first shot was of our lunch – and weirdly, I have no idea where it went! But I can give you a hint:
it takes two hands…
Yes, we eat really fancy when we’re on the road!
You have to understand that the bulk of the photos one can take when with Rudi (who today asked me to not come back in my next life as a photographer, since it is annoying having to stop to take a picture) consists of shooting from a moving car. Burger King was one of the still shots from a seated position and without a moving background. Too bad we missed that one.
So here’s the vehicle that pulled up next to us at a traffic light –
Rudi wanted me to ask for a free sample, but I think la senorita could only habla espanol. How DO you make a tilde?
We were looking for the Galleria, and an ATM. We found the ATM first, but not until I’d hung out the window of the car to shoot – the Goodyear Blimp! How cool! I hadn’t seen it for a decade or two, so that was fun.
The skies here are a pretty blue, not as deep as in Abaco, but decent, and the places we’ve gone (from West Palm Beach to Fort Lauderdale to Hollywood) have been very clean.
And you get a sense that the employees in stores have a lot to deal with here. One even remarked at what a pleasure it was to serve us, how refreshing our attitudes were, and we explained we’re Canadian. A smile goes a long way – you can see their faces melt. We witnessed some impatient (for no reason) and nasty people, so it was pretty sad.
I don’t know if it is because there is money here, and perhaps people with money feel they are special and require special treatment, but I have to say that I have never seen more expensive cars: Rolls Royce, Bentley, Jaguar, Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, Ferrari… anywhere at one time in my life.
Seen at the Publix (supermarket):
Is that a Bentley? It has a “B” somewhere, so I leaned toward Bentley.
We spent many hours at a mall, and Rudi actually survived the experience. I wasn’t worried for his back, which has been fine, but for his attitude, which is never very good in a mall. And we bought so much I couldn’t even shoot photos. Perhaps I can shoot what I bought! (and I am too tired to clone out the light pole, so use it as an example of a Galleria lamp pole) ![]()
No, we did not shop at Neiman Marcus.
We had dinner in our hotel room (see? we are not the tour-the-town and find a great restaurant types, at least not on our first night… so maybe we need the Sex Drive Energy Drink!) and – here it is! Supermarket sushi!
I can hardly wait to see the excitement Sunday holds.
